and now it's time for goodbye. I dinged it and have taken a cash settlement instead of repair.
Was going to buy another Meg but realised for the price I could be in a much newer and lower mileage Prius and be financially better off.
It's a huge upgrade from the Meg, but I am sorry to see it go.

Re: Renault Megane II stalling at junctions/traffic lights
I've has a similar stalling problem on a BMW. Was the crank sensor. Car would run perfectly until I went to idle, and would then periodically stall. No idea if crank sensor is an issue on the Megane but worth googling

Re: Road tax to be scrapped next year
Don't get me started on household insurance. After Christchurch fell to bits in the earthquakes, the insurance companies have had their ratings downgraded meaning we can no longer guess our rebuild cost and insure accordingly. So once your house is worth over about GBP400,000 then you need to get a ...

Re: Road tax to be scrapped next year
Here's an interesting thing on car insurance. It's not compulsory over here. Yet about 93% of NZ owners have car insurance (approx 75% have comprehensive). UK estimates about 94% of car owners have insurance. Uk has a lower accident per capita, less deaths per capita, yet your insurance premiums and...

Re: Road tax to be scrapped next year
Fully agree Wanda, as I've said for a long time they should do away with it and put it on to the cost of fuel; that way the more miles you do the more you pay to use the roads and for their upkeep / development etc. If only it were that simple. With moves to different motive power (hybrids etc) the...

Re: Untroduction
Having owned Rangerovers and an Alfa, the meg is a comparatively reliable car !! We have an excellent independent Renault mechanics nearby and I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. Skoda is an odd brand. I just can't get past the negative connotations from my youth. I was really surprised when they r...

Re: Amp protection light
Could be a whole heap of things. Poor wiring, wrong gain setting, bad amp etc etc.
First question, what's the gain set at?
Second question, what brand & model amp and sub (including voice coil configuration if dual vc)

Re: Bass from left side only.
What's powering the sub? presume there's a separate amp for that. My guess is the sub amp is hooked up to the left subout RCA only. Look for a setting in your headunit for mono sub output or run a pair of RCA and sum the signal at the amp. Why there's no midbass is a different story. Won't be polari...

Re: Headlight bulb procedure?
Just did the passenger side myself. My hand are too big for the access panel route. Took battery out and that makes it real easy. Took about 10 mins to remove battery and bulb. Now just gotta go to shop for a new bulb and refit.

Re: Renault megane cruise control?
There a few posts on how to retrofit cruise control. You need the airbag and switches and a dash switch. From what I've read, you hook it up and get the mechanics to tell the computer that cruise is now working.
There was an airbag and switches on here for sale the other day.
