Re: Both Front Door Speakers Dead

No separate amp. In mine the speakers failed due to probably corroded contacts in the plugs on the back of the speakers. Took m off, sprayed the plugs with contact cleaner spray, put it back together and it worked again. Had the same with the window motor twice, and the boot switch. All worked again...

Re: Air con not working

Probably out of refrigerant. It evaporates over time, especially if it's not used regularly. Topping up every two or three years is usually a good idea. There's usually a pressure sensor somewhere in the system that disables the compressor clutch to protect the compressor from running dry (there's a...

Re: power wing mirrors

Comment I can give:) just not a very useful one as I don't know.

What I do know is that a generic topic title like "power wing mirrors" just gives me the urge to click on it and see what the question is. :-)

Re: Megane 1.5 dci FAP 110 EDC - horrible experience!

As I said, don't know exactly....
The question was if any modern diesels do not have a dpf fitted. Don't think there's a diesel without one now in current models you buy new today. But i may be wrong. I won't pretend I know it alllllll ;-)

Re: Megane 1.5 dci FAP 110 EDC - horrible experience!

I have a needle, not bars, so can't say much about that. Normally the gauges are dampened quite a lot, normal changes of + or - 5 degrees don't show on the gauge anyway. Better check with an obd reader with live data option. Or have a mechanic check. Different engines have different temperature ther...

That's more than a short run. By short run i mean when the engine does not come up to temperature.

Re: Megane 1.5 dci FAP 110 EDC - horrible experience!

From around 2004 or so (don't know exactly) all diesels in the EU have DPF (FAP) fitted, they would not meet the fine particulate requirements otherwise. And I agree with Alex, if you do short runs only, petrol's the better choice. That dpf (and the egr system) are made for warm runs and suffer if t...

Re: regenerate soot filter message

Yeah full synth, but must also be compliant with acea c4 spec. Or Renault 0720 approved (same thing really).

Re: regenerate soot filter message

It still filters out the small soot particles.
Normally when you drive, you don't notice the regen, it's just when it can't finish the process for an x number of times, it will throw an error. Short trips no good ;)

Re: regenerate soot filter message

Usually that means the ecu has not been able to perform the regeneration cycle for a while, and you need to drive it at a constant speed of 80 km/h (is that 50 mph?) for a good time, say half an hour. happens mostly with cars that just do short trips. Other than that, it's a visit to the dealership,...

Re: Boring fuel economy question

There are so many variables influencing fuel economy... The biggest is of course the heavy foot, then there's shifting habits, wind, hills, road type, trip length, tyre brand and type (up to 5% difference seen in tests), tyre wear, etc. that makes it near impossible to compare fuel economy between t...

Re: tie rods

You don't need to shout mate :(
Apologies, I thought you meant the rod ends as that's usually what needs to be changed.
Don't know much about the rest of the rack, sorry.
Best download the manuals from the Problems section. MR364Megane3 should have some info on the steering rack.
