I would start by checking the battery, my megane behave strangely when the battery was dying... the alarm would also set off with no apparent reason.

But since the car was under intense rain, I wouldn't discard water messing with the electronics

The tailgate loom on estates tends to break, causing these strange behaviours. Mine has broken a few years ago , making the wiper work when the ignition was turned on/off. It was fixed, and I think it has broken again recently. The third stop light sometimes doesn't turn on, and the tailgate is not ...

There are 2005 models with Update List, and others that still have Tuner List.

If you have the user manual, check if it has any reference to the AUX option.

If it has, it is a Update List (Tuner Lists do not have AUX).
