Someone recently advised clamping the hoses and opening the bleed valves when pushing the pistons back in - the reason for this is that pushing the hydraulic fluid back up the main pipe can upset the ABS system - I suspect that this is what has happened here.

This thread has gone cold (pun) so I thought I'd wake it up following some newer threads on aircon. I decided to look into the DIY kits again (but now don't need to as my dealer is going to do mine for free :) ) What I learn't may be useful to others. You can't use the DIY kits with Meganes! (regard...

Its always worth having a try at the dealers, especially if you've got some bad service to moan about - I had some problems following my last service and when I arranged for it to go back in to sort them out I mentioned that my a/c wasn't working properly too (I think it just a bit short on gas) The...

New CC Special Edition Dynamique S

Has anyone seen the new S version of the CC yet? We are changing our CC (another story) and the S seems to offer the best value as leather and integrated paint are included for about £700 less than the regular dynamique with the same bits added as options. The only thing is that I'm not alltog...

The World Series by Renault (WSR) event at Donnington is worth a punt for a meet. Its usually in September and you can register for free tickets at https://www.worldseriesbyrenault.com/ but they are not yet released - keep an eye out. Its worth going for a free days motorsport spectating even if its...

Being a tight fisted git I found an old bolt in the bottom of the toolbox and ground the threaded part square with an angle grinder till it was a perfect fit in the hole. I then put a normal socket on the bolt head and Bob's your auntie's lover.

I thought our plate wasn't too bad compared to many I've seen - the only thing not strictly legal was the spacing - we had separated the five from the zero in the 05 so the five was near to the letters (AND) (my wife is called Sand). The figures are all full size, non-italic, normal font and clean a...

Fair point - I've never heard of DIY kits before. I do know that every car I've had with a/c gradually loses its gas and the system works less and less well until you give in and ask the dealer to top it up at the next service - I've never really thought about what is involved though and as my previ...

Re: Where is the air con valve to recharge it?

Hi, where is the air con valve to recharge it. Halfords could not find it ( I wanted the free air con check with them). Has anyone used the DIY recharge kits they do? thanks. :) Let me know how you get on with the DIY recharge kit - my a/c seems to be working less and less well (based on demisting ...

Its slightly different bewtween our two cars. The CC (2.0vvt dynamique) is march 05 (built late jan 05) and has the "pre phase 1.5" features - slightly smaller red button on radio etc... The steering does change weight from slow to fast but is a bit short on feel throughout. The weighting is fine, j...

I'll be having the Amsoil fully synth that I won in the MOC competition put in my diesel sport tourer at its 36,000 mile service in a couple of weeks (assuming the dealer is okay with me providing my own oil) Up to now I've changed the oil at half the service interval (9k instead of 18) and put in h...

The most common failure of toughened glass in buildings is due to Nickel Sulfide inclusions in the glass. Glass that has inclusions can sometimes last for many years then shatter for no other reason. To avoid this it is possible to specify "heat soaked" glass. Basically, heat soaking involves heatin...
