Re: Renault diesel specialist in West Midlands needed

Not sure where abouts you are in the west mids but you could try these;

Not used them personally but I know people who have and they seem to be good and reasonably priced.

Re: megane windows

I haven't personally stripped down the door on a Megane but it sounds to me like the glass has slipped out of position on its runners rather than a bad seal.
Unless the window seal is very badly deformed then I'd check the glass itself.

Re: to buy or not to buy

I believe the cam belt is 60,000 or 7 years, whichever comes first.

Wouldn't expect to pay more than £250 for a full cambelt kit plus waterpump etc as thats what my old 2.2 406 cost at my local french car specialists.

If you're in need of a giggle ask your local Renault dealer for a quote :D

Re: to buy or not to buy

Marc, I bought my car about a month ago with 3 month warranty, it had an intermitant problem with the window, mine being a late 08 it had Megane 3 wiring so it was a dodgy switch not the usual regulator, either way an easy fix and FOC with the warranty. My sunroof is fine except for a slight squeak ...

Re: Steering Rack

Easiest way to diagnose a dodgy top mount is to watch the suspension leg while someone turns the steering (vehicle stationary of course). The spring should turn smoothly with the leg, if it looks like the spring is twisting then jerking around chances are your top mount is shot. It's a DIY job to ch...

Re: Steering Rack

Not sure about the reliabilty of the rack as I'm a new owner myself but are you sure it's the rack and not a sticky top mount causing the spring to judder when turning?

Re: h radiator

Hi Sandman,

I'm new to Megane's myself so can't help much but if you specify which engine you have that will help get you a more informative answer.

A couple of questions

Very pleased with my little motor so far but I have noticed a couple of annoying rattles and squeaks. Firstly the vents either side of the main windscreen vent rattle at certain rpm's. Do these just pop out so I can put some foam in? The sunroof also has a squeaky point so I was wondering where the ...

Hello all

Just a quick introduction to you all. After many years of Pug 406 ownership I've just picked up a 1.5 dci 86 3 door. From what I can gather its at the end of the Megane 2 era being an 08 plate, 54,000 miles, FSH, 2 lady owners, very tidy car. It's a little bit slow compared to what I'm used to (modi...
