Hello Everyone - dim headlights

I have joined today to see if anyone here can give me some help.
My headlights are both very dim. Bulbs have been changed and I have even tried the bulbs which claim to provide 110% more 'brightness' ....they didnt make any difference.

I know the holder plug on the passenger side headlight is broken and only just holding on (picking up a replacement tomorrow) but I am not confident that is making both of them equally dim.

So I am hinging on the earthing wire theory!

Big question is....do you think I am right and if so....where do I find this black wire??
