Megane 1.9 Diesel

Hi I am new to these things but could do with some car advice? Any help would be appreciated.
Firstly my heating was only working on number 3 then it stopped working completely. In to the garage i went, (my previous mechanic retired and moved away) to be told it was the resistor and the motor, so had all replaced with new parts. Two weeks later lost number 4 so in to the garage it went and the said it is the switch (bearing in mind i still have the keys in my hand and the doors are locked and he has not bothered to glance at my car). Took my car home and a few days later the heating went completely. What i would want to know is do you guys/girls think it is the switch or dodgy work?
