Well with baby number 3 due in April a Grand Scenic was gonna be the ideal way to go and here she is, in the colour I always wanted:
Some compromises were made. Theres no panoramic sunroof which I loved in my Megane, but the huge windows make up for it and I went with a 1.6 VVT which gave my huge problems in the Megane. However the dealer (Chandlers Ford Renault) were very honest with the kind of faults renaults often have. They openly talked about dephaser pulley failures which the new 1.6 shouldn't suffer from as the part was changed. This compared to most other dealers who told me it must be an isolated case was certainly refreshing.
For a 1.6 it is actually far nippier than I thought it would be and the 6 speed helps with economy. I just couldn't stand the clatter of the diesels. The only one I thought wasn't too noisy was the 2.0 which I just couldn't find anywhere.
No problems so far (its a 56 reg), the only issue was the compressor for the emergency sealent system was missing which the dealer promptly sorted. Also thanks to it being a 56 I still have the auto wipers and lights which have disappeared as standard on most models now.
I am desperate to find a matching centre console though before venturing forth with backseat DVDs. Any ideas peeps?
I had a Scenic courtesy car which was fun to drive.It had the 1.6 engine 6 speed gearbox which was interesting.
