Iv got a new megane, now tell me about it

Postby richwells » Fri Dec 21, 2007 4:22 pm

Hey

Iv just bought a renault megane 1.4 dynamique, it has 7,500 miles on the clock and is on a 06 plate.

Iv not receieved it yet as i am waiting for plate transer as i had a personalised one on my 206...

So while i am dreaming about it, maybe you could fill me in with info that could make my dreams sweeter! ( and answer questions that i forgot to ask the salesman)

1. The guy said it had climate control, does this mean heated seats as well?

2. The onboard computer, where's the switch you change the section with, eg petrol left, miles per gallon etc? i couldn't find it anywhere...

3. Is it true the glove box is cooled with the air conditioning?

4. With the megane keyless card, compared to other ignitions is there like stage 1 battery stage 2 wipers and radio 3 engine starts, or is it just card in cluth down engine start?

thanks

mine does cool the glovebox, theres a vent hole top right of glovebox
if you want just electrics on but not start motor press start button without clutch or brake depressed. other then that depress clutch or brake and hit start all systems go..

1) Climate control does not mean heated seats. You will be able to set the cabin temp and it will automaticaly turn fans on/off to keep the cabin at that temp. It will be a digital read out too.And an option for demisting windscreen fast. Should look somthing like this....

2) Should be on the right hand stalk at the end. You can go up and down the different displays.
3) If there is a wee blue cover inside the glovebox it should be able to slide across. The aircon will keep it cool.
4) Mines just card in clucth or brake down and hit the start button. But mines not got auto detect so someone else will have to coment on that and how it works.

Hope that helps.

If it is a push button start like mine, put it in gear, depress clutch and brake and press start with the key card in. That seems to put into ignition without starting the engine.

The aircon glovebox is covered with a very cheap blue flap. It opens or closes depending on how you slide it.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

if you press the start button without depressing the clutch or brake you will get radio wipers etc without starting the engine.

On the megane hatches, ONLY the early models came with a vent cover in the glovebox to have it cooled or not.

On later models (54>?) the vent was removed so it was a permanently cooled glovebox. The vent is in the top right hand side of the glovebox.

If you have heated seats, the switches for these are by the handbrake.
