New 1.5 Dci Megane

Postby Ruben » Sun Oct 11, 2015 9:14 am

Hi all,

Yesterday I went to a garage to buy a 2007 1.5 Megane Dci. I have paid for a deposit and I am going to pick it up later on the week.

My question is... When I went to a test drive with the salesman, he drove the car away from the garage and 1/2 a mile after I went to the driver position and noticed the car doing a lot of white smoke when idling. He told me that it was normal because the car was sopped for a long time.

Do you guys think this is normal?

Thanks

No, walk away.

How much deposit did you leave? If it's a decent garage, they'll give you your deposit back.

The strangest thing is... I was driving with a a nearly empty diesel tank, and when I finished the road test,I couldn't see more of that white smoke :nut

I left 300 pounds deposit and the car is being sold for 2150 pounds.

The car dealer also has good reviews and is offering me 6 months warranty.

Tha car has full service history, and cam belt was changed at approximately 70000 miles including the water pump.

It could be water in the exhaust sure enough from being stood for a while, could also be water in the fuel lines especially as you were driving with a nearly empty tank but it could be a failing turbo or a blown head gasket ......... ouch.

If you really want the car either take a mechanic with you to check it out or get an AA / RAC check done.
