Number plate lights

Postby mattymoore93 » Sun Jul 21, 2013 3:19 pm

I have got the problem of no number plate lights on both sides.
I have checked fuses and all of the other side lights are working.
Any ideas

If the bulbs are definitely ok, check for corrosion on the numberplate light units (connector / light housing etc.).

Also check the wiring at the hinge of the tailgate, mine had snapped and had done number plate light, heated rear window, wiper and boot lock. It was only until boot lock went that I got them all sorted.
Mine is sport tourer though.

Almcgrail, out of interest how did you make good the snapped wiring? I've got the same issue though at the moment only affecting the boot lock + switch. There doesn't seem to be enough slack in the wiring to cut out the bad bits and rejoin with connectors. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry only just seen this.
Open hatch and splice cable housing (top left), expose broken wires and solder in a longer piece. I split an old ISO cable to retain colours. Check for other potential breaks as I've had loads break but the extra piece I've added in means I haven't had to do one twice. Hope this helps.
