Hi,
I'm hoping that someone can help me with this one (& sorry if I've missed the topic somehwere in the forum - which I couldn't trace):
I have a Renault Megane Dynamique (2005). Both the `SERVICE` (in text) light (not the small spanner) and the airbag (logo) light are continuously on and I was wondering how to turn them off.
I appreciate that the car is trying to tell me something, which I will get sorted at some stage soon, but I was hoping to remove the lights in the meantime.
I followed step-by-step instructions on how to reset the Service Interval mileage which worked fine (now showing "Service in 18,000 Miles"), but the `SERVICE`text light and airbag logo are both still lit-up as soon as I start the ignition - and they stay on. I've tried checking the wiring and spraying a little WD40 to the wiring underneath the Driver's seat, but to no avail.
Please help, anyone!!!
Many Thanks!!!

Re: SERVICE light and Airbag light on
I know you said you checked the wiring, but have you unpluged and replugged the connectors under both the driver and passsanger seats?
I had the same problem and this worked for me.
Im not sure if there is a proper way or order of doing it but i 1- turned ignition off
2-unplugged plugs
3-turned on ignition
4-turned off ignition
5-plugged back in
I've done this twice now (as light come on after i cleaned under seats)
and its worked both times.

Re: SERVICE light and Airbag light on
Hi gav1pam,
Thanks for the prompt advice!!
I tried disconnecting the wiring/plug under the drivers seat as you stated, but the problem persisted. However, as the car also has a passenger airbag, I then checked underneath the passengers seat to find a similar wiring/plug. I carried out your instructions, i.e. with the plug out I started the car and the lights were still on, but then when I turned it off and reconnected the plug and started the car again - hey presto - both lights were out and seem to be staying out now.
Thanks a million for your tip as I couldn't have sussed this out without you!
Cheers!

Re: SERVICE light and Airbag light on
Just a note for anyone referring to this thread at some later time.
It's important to state that the airbag system remains charged for some minutes after the ignition is turned off so there must be some risk that disconnecting and reconnecting before this time has elapsed might trigger the seat airbags.

A valid point by Toodeep!!!
To be honest, when I was carrying out this disconnection & reconnection work, I kept my head low and took a deep breath each time (ready for the shock) - just in case any of the airbags were suddenly deployed. As Toodeep indicates, maybe best to allow a little time in between - before dis & re-connection. If in doubt leave it out and seek further advice!

Re: SERVICE light and Airbag light on
Thanks for the advice gents, spot on, solved my problem - just for those people like myself, the plug has a slider on the side of the plug that slides out to the side to release the plug, quite obvious if you know, not so if you don't.

Re: SERVICE light and Airbag light on
Worked for me! That was a relief, had been bugging me for two months, hehe then found this.
Wiggled under the passenger seat and hey presto, fixed
