Glovebox jammed shut

Hi All, Been a while since I'v been on here which must be a good sign. We've had our Meg II CC is now over 7 years old and (touch wood) has been completely reliable. Just got a problem though - the glovebox won't open. It seems like the opening flap thing is working normally but the box won't open, not even a little bit.

I'm thinking that something inside may have got caught in the mechanism, or maybe (assuming it locks with the central locking) the solenoid has failed in the locked position.

Anyone solved a similar problem?

Can the box be removed without opening it first?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Mine does that too. Keep pressing the lock / unlock button on the dash while trying the handle. Eventually it will open.
