Megane mk2 2008 1.4 16v sensor help

Postby Ryan1000 » Tue Jan 17, 2017 8:11 pm

Hi everyone, just got a mk2 megane 2008 1.4 16v, got it cheap with a few jobs needing doing, just serviced it, oil, filters, plugs, also cleaned throttle body as revs are a little low 600/800 rpm, also bounce up and down a little, but its still the same, out of ideas, temp is always spot on, can anyone tell me what the sensor is for that sits right next to bottom of radiator on drivers side, has 3 wires and a plug, wires have either been cut or have snapped, wondering if it has something to do with revs being low, many thanks in advance

Folk do still come here from time to time, but if nobody can relate to your problem, then response can be slow.
Ok, so I have never even opened the bonnet on a petrol Megane, in my mind this is good, if I ain't had to fix one then they must be reasonably reliable.
Anyway, cars are cars and sensors are sensors, both of which I am familiar with, but I would need to narrow down your description a bit.
"the sensor is for that sits right next to bottom of radiator" is the sensor attached to the radiator, is it attached to the engine or is it attached to a pipe?
Any chance of a photo? At first guess with your description it could be a radiator fan switch.
Can you get any codes read, if a sensor is disconnected, usually the computer has something to say about it.
Steve.

thanks steve ive not been on for a while but ill get a pic on here to give you a better idea, i thought it may be a fan switch but wasnt sure, i have just fitted new wishbones and trackrods, did driver side, then halfway through doing other side and discovered that the subframe bush was badly worn, any idea on how to renew these subframe bushes, can they be done without taking subframe off, thanks in advance

I have never done sub frame bushes on a Megane, but a quick internet search makes me believe that the sub frame isn't that hard to remove, then press out the old and in with the new. However it might be possibly to use a bit of threaded bar and some washers/bushes to do the job on the car.

Sorry got my threads mixed up,haha,. Done subframe bushings, lowered subframe, made up a puller from some threaded bar nuts and washers but stripped threads off bar, those bushes are tight, ended up taking subframe off and taking it to local garage to get pressed out and new ones in, think from reading up, it's a coolant fan switch, located at driver's side at bottom of rad, switch is still there but wires have either snapped off or corroded need to trace where the wires go and maybe get new loom
