I believe that Renault call the knock sensor on the 1.5 dci an accelerometer, if this is true I think it is the one that I have circled.

I don't think so, but go gently in case you have to get it back in quickly

Adam, yes in some places it is called an accelerometer and others a knock sensor - baffling.
It is very rare for this sensor to play up. I have seen this come up on CLIP as a fault but took no action and the fault was never seen again. There is not a lot to this; no moving parts. First of all remove and check the plug and the wiring. A broken wire could trigger this fault. You will need a deep socket so check that the sensor is tight in the block. If it is loose, could cause the error message. Do not undo it for if you do, you will have to reset the Pressure regulation adaptives and for this you will need CLIP. Same if you fit a new one.
The instructions say "accelerometer circuit" (!!) other sensors may cause this to show a problem viz coolant temp, air temp, fuel temp. Atmospheric pressure.
As a matter of interest, what are the symptoms that caused you to have your car diagnosed in the first place?

I had my engine carbon cleaned in the hope the mpg would improve i never really get more than 46 mpg and they as part of the service run a test on it everything was fine except for the knock sensor circuit he tried to clear it but it wouldn't so i figured it cant be that much to replace but my Haynes manual does not seem to list it's whereabouts.
