Hi folks. I'm going to attempt a handbrake cable change as mine snapped with a BANG!Actually, was more like a "DOONG!"
I've done a bit of searching and pretty much know what to do. What I want to know is: Do I need to remove any under panels of the car to gain access to the cable run? Or can you pretty much see the whole run from where it bungs into the chassis to where it connects to at the caliper?
Also, the cable is only like 2 meters long, maybe a bit less. So, either I've got the wrong cable or the run is a piece of pish.
I'm rocking an 04 Megane 1.5Dci (80) 5dr.
Handbrake cable replacement.

no hidden parts. easy to do once the wheels are off and you disconect the cable ends on both sides of the cable, and pretty much self explanatory

Cheers dude. Hardest part is taking the wheel off in that case.

Roger that. I'm going to do it this morning. I'm terrible for remembering to taking pictures and posting up a quick guide. But I'll try and remember.

Re: Handbrake cable replacement .
OK, so I've managed to take out most of the cable. However, the bung that plugs into the bottom of the chassis has destroyed itself and I'm left with the metal part where it's rusted into the hole. Any advice? I'll try and get a photo so you know what I mean. Photobucket doesn't like to work with me.

Hi,
l haven't done this particular model but that bit would surely come with the new cable.
Once you've got in the console l would think you could tap it out from the inside.
Good luck and let us know.
Bob.

Re: Handbrake cable replacement.
Sorry for the late update. After posting I got cracking with it again.
This was the problem and why it wasn't yanking out. No matter what force.
This plastic sheath was over it!Was finally able to get long nose pliers small enough to get a grip on it.
Overall, pretty simple job. I had to take a stanley blade to the original bung that went into the cabin. Picture below (once the black plastic bung was cut off it pulled out quite easily).
The new cable in (below):
Careful not to snap this locating clip like I did:
Yes, my brake pipes are slightly corroded...I know.
