Ticking noise on acceleration

Postby KeithRC » Sun Jun 11, 2017 1:41 pm

My Son's 53 plate 1.4 with 75k on clock has developed a light ticking noise on acceleration. The car starts ok but a bit lumpy and stalls sometimes but otherwise runs fine, no misfires or any other problems. no warning lights, oil is looking fine. I thought it may have been just a vibration as the engine mounts are wearing but no joy! Any ideas?

Hi,
one elimination process worth doing is to take the alternator belt off and see if it stops.
Obviously you only need a short test run.
lf the noise is still there, you at least know it's in the engine and not an ancillary part.
Good luck
Bob.
