Problem with your Megane? Can't find an answer? Workshop manuals and technical notes are in here.

Permanent 12v to VVT solenoid, anyone tried it?

Postby BrotherPlasterer » Tue Jun 20, 2017 4:09 pm

Hi,has anyone tried applying a constant 12v to the dephaser solenoid and if so what happened?
Theoretically, would it add power at lower revs or just stall and the dashboard light up.

I assume that you are having problems with the dephaser pulley? Me too.
Maybe someone will answer shortly. I am hoping to change my timing belt and pulley in a month or so. I bought some second hand parts on ebay, so it wont cost too much.
I just get bad starting, and knocking on start up, runs ok.
I would like an easy fix too, not sure how hard it will be.

No, I've been through all that. Seems to be a part of the induction into the hall of Megane ownership :-P

If you follow all the instructions carefully its fairly painless if you are mechanically adept. (I wasn't, this was my first job and I picked a doozy!)

No, I was just wondering because I definitely feel the VVT kick in around 2.2K revs and would like that feeling all the time please :-)
