Braking fault

Postby Jb555 » Wed Nov 29, 2017 7:11 pm

Hi everyone
Got a 2006 1.5 diesels mark 2 megane. Just had a beep come from the dashboard and a "braking fault" message comes up. The Speedo fails to work, and the ABS light comes on. The heater controls and radio also have stopped working. And to top things off the engine no longer want to switch off when I press the button, gotta keep going at it or just stall it.
I've done some searching and thought it would be low brake fluid, which I only needed to add about an egg cup full to the reservoir. So could it be a warning of low pads/discs?
Also are all these electrical gremlins connected?

Hi,
as always, you need a diagnostic reading and a fault code or codes.
lf that can't be done, check the abs sensors, they can cause havoc.
lf you want to fix things yourself you need diagnostics, ask father xmas lf you haven't got one. Make sure it does body and engine.
Bob.

Sounds like corroded contacts in the fuse box next to the battery on either a plug, relay or fuse. Battery needs to come out to get at it if memory serves.

Got it sorted now, turns out the ignition relays had fried. All up and running now :)
Got to change EGR valve though at weekend
