Steering fault

Hi. I had mechanic out yesterday to fix problem with starter turned out the lead to starter was broken which he fix. So starts OK. Now went out today now it says steering fault on dash. Any advice. Thanks

Hi,
when the mechanic was done, did this message come straight up, or has it appeared since.
Only wonder if fiddling about with wires if a live had touched earth if the battery wasn't disconnected.
Otherwise, does the power steering work ?
lf not check fuses.
Could be you need to read the fault codes.
