Can't Unlock The Car!

Postby Aquai » Wed Dec 13, 2017 11:09 am

Hi all,

Really hoping this is an easy one and I'm doing something stupid...

I have an 05 Megane 225 with keyless entry and it's been sat in my garage for two months.

I went to get into the car the other day and the vehicle won't unlock with the key.

So I tried replacing the batteries in the fob - no good

Next step - try the 2nd key - no good

I then decided to try using the emergency key found within the fob. Managed to get the cover of the keyhole (though strangely mine is on the driver side not the passenger side like in most videos) and it just does nothing. Key fits and turns but there is no mechanical feedback / clicks...anything!

I'm at a bit of a loss as what to do. I'm assuming the battery in the car itself is flat - the immobilser light doesn't seem to be flashing currently.

Help!

Hi,
get the front up off the ground and make safe. Remove the engine undercover.
Now you've got 2 options : lt should be possible to pull on the bonnet cable and open the bonnet, then charge the battery.

lf not, use the thick red wire (live) coming from battery to the starter motor, connect the live
from battery charger there at starter terminal, earth somewhere on body or engine and turn charger on, you should then be able to unlock with card.
Good luck and remember, you can't leave them long nowadays, electronics.
Bob.
