new owner with a couple of probs

Postby tallpaul » Sat Mar 08, 2008 10:08 pm

hi, i am a new megane owner making the change from a Dturbo 306.

my car is a 53 1.9DCI dynamique 51k, i picked it up this week but have a few questions already...

1. The spanner light is flashing, but it was serviced 2k ago, can i clear it?

2. I'm getting the 'Service Injection' error message on two occasions each time i drive. firstly when i initially start the car, but this goes out in 5-10 mins (thinking duff glowplug?) but then secondly when i accelerate moderately quickly (overtaking, joining motorway etc), even in gear, the message pops up and seems to then put the car in limp mode, any pointers or is it a dealer only job?

3. The 'Change Oil Soon' message has also popped up, despite the recent service. has it just not been reset?

thanks in advance

In the FAQ it only mentions when the car is cold.

I think I have two issues, one with a duff glow plug and the other is something else. I noticed that the car goes into 'limp' mode and the light illuminates when the engine is revved to 3000rpm, this is when the engine is hot.

any ideas??

(1) as Ray wrote;
(3) there is such a possibility... Are you sure that it was serviced and an appropriate oil was used (ACEA B4)?
(2) These lights are described in the repair manual, see my message in Links section. Inj+service under load can mean disagreement in readings of several sensors, suspected overboost and the danger of the turbo/engine blowing. You need to have the diagnostic codes read from the ECU.

The FAQ isn't correct.
You need to put the card in, then press and hold the start button (don't touch the pedals), until the ignition lights come on.
Then cycle the messages until the "Change Oil Now" message comes up. Now press and hold the reset button on the rev Counter.
The message will now flash. Keep holding. Next, the "service" message will appear. Keep holding until it stops flashing.
That's it done.
I did exactly this yesterday on my 1.6VVT Dynamique (2005).
