1.9 dci/LOW SAPS OIL

Postby iash101 » Thu May 29, 2008 5:11 pm

Hi can any one out there give me some advise on engine oil. I can get engine oil from work ,though im not sure if it is compatible with my megane 1.9 dci .The oil in question is fucs 10/40 semi synthetic but has low saps on the lable ,the oil is for our new range of lorries but iv been told by one of the fitters that it would be fine to use in my megane, though im not to convinced .Does any one know what low saps is???? and can you get different types of semi synthetic oil ie.possibly one for lorries and one for cars ????
or is 10/40 oil just 10/40 oil and thats it??
Hope you catch my drift cheers iash101

Ask oilman -- there is a relevant thread in Parts section.

If your car is "FAP", then you need ACEA C3 oil, if not then ACEA B4. Most 10w40 oils are mineral and most 5w40 are hydrocracked mineral (they lie on the label). Your engine will be happier with something fully synthetic.
