Brake fluid.
Has evolved massively over the years as with vehicle braking technology.
Now.
I have owned through my life.
Mini clubman with a 1275 engine in it (it went on fire... Celotape and spot lamp electrics don't seem to work well)
Fiat 127
Fiat super mirafuri ( well fast but light back end coupled with rear wheel drive great for drifting) oh yes wrote it off.
Morris marina (horrid sandy colour with a brown vinyl roof.... Classy)
Ford Cortina
Ford escort rs turbo (wow what a missle)
Ford sierra (someone had to own 1) went on fire , yep celotape and radio still didn't heed the lessons offered as a young man
Ford escort 1300 with that vile 8 valve sowing machine engine (thrashed till it died)
Fiat bravo hgt (wicked little car with an evil 2.0ltr 16 valves rocket)
Megane cc.

Why the list, well they are from the age of 18 to 54 in order the only time I have changed brake disks was at the fiat stage all rest had pads fitted only, meg is now on her second set of disks n pads we are now at the stage where every time you changed pads you usually change disks as well I believe its something to do with reduced asbestos in the pads so they now eat into your disks great eh.
Brake fluid is the same never changed fluid in any of them until meg brake get a bit uninterested in stopping one you do a fluid change. Bingo they are back our pug is now suffering the same uninterested braking so need to change fluid.
I think the point being as an apprentice I spent all my time greasing ball joints then this wonderful idea came to the motor trade called "sealed for life" no more grease nipples no more greasing... Still have these sealed products now however we now instead change brake fluid every two years and brake disks at every pad change. Have we moved forward.... No just changed interest's and biggest con... Long life oil how is long life when you change an oil filter on average every 10/18k most cars about 12 months on 10k ....
Ah well there my moan. At least it got me thinking about me clubman loved the rs and the fiat hgt would not like to choose between those two oh and I have been banned from using celotape as an electrical insulator for wrapped around each other wire's.
Oh and remould tyres....... Na that's for another day.
