Separated after 9 years

Postby ChrisM » Mon Sep 25, 2017 10:17 pm

:-( well she has gone!
After 9 years we have gone our separate ways, been replaced by an 11 plate 1.9DCi megane cc gt line.
On first impressions.
She drives better it has a reconfigured gearbox where as my old 04 would do 70 at 2000 rpm this one is over that so its lower geared making it more punchy but I bet fuel economy will not be as good
Handling is a lot firmer.
Roof operation is s#*t compared to the old karrman roof its really quite rough in operation literary throwing it in boot and slamming boot behind it, my old car in total 13 years old and over 140k on it but still put that roof in the boot better than this 11 plate.
Keep ya posted on how it performs and what breaks/falls off first. Sad day was Saturday leaving my trusty old diamond of doom at car lot :cry
Hopefully happy days ahead

Is it true the interior is smaller than the megane 2 cc?

I heard the boot is smaller.

Wanda, yes its true she is a wee bit snug now you have also lost the door storage compartments the ones with the lids the center storage is smaller and not much room around gearstick in other words no where to put ur shades the other thing which is a bit irritating is the start button its on the passenger side bit tight around the gearstick. Seats are smaller and firmer.
Pick up is much better no lag hardly so that's good and handles well she is lower geared so pulls hard low down now.
The boot is quite a bit smaller and doesn't help itself by having a full width parcel shelf stored 3/4 up in the boot takes up more room unlike the mk2 which tucks it all up and away in the boot.
So a few things to get use too the most pointless gizmo the parking sensors.
Why.
1st the bleep is that quite you can hardly hear it.
2nd when activated they only seem to mute the radio, the CD just keeps playing at the same volume so defiantly don't hear them it doesn't even register the distance on the audio/Nav screen (all factory fitted) yet the wife's 07 Peugeot cc bleeps really loud and you get a car display on radio screen showing markers for rear and both corners of bumper so you know where the closest obstacle is unfortunately the 11 plate Renault does not do that
No leaks though, side window seals are much better , it is a nice car but will take so getting use too after 9 years in meg 2 but again I will say you have a much better roof than me, the word cheap springs to mind, if I get 9 years trouble free out of it I think it will be a miracle.
Keep ya posted on what falls off first :D

Its official boot is a lot smaller.
Went shopping today 1 bag compost, 3 large bags shopping plus 1 medium bag...
Meg 2 would take that with ease with space left over, meg 3 well medium bag had to goon rear seat.
Airport run should be interesting old meg two large suitcases plus two hand luggage in boot meg 3 looks like 1 large suit case and 1 hand luggage.
So she is deffinatly smaller.
