Postby bingo21 » Sun Sep 28, 2008 7:12 pm

Hi can anyone give me a hand.I bought a scenic 1.6vvt 53 (04) from nissan dealer in stourbridge 37,000m after 2 days had de-phaser replaced after hearing starting noise.but now 4 weeks later and the colder weather is here it's really hard to start and struggles to get 3 bars on dial drives a bit lumpy for a while, but as i go along it feels like its always struggling and lacks any power unless you rev the nuts off it.Could the guys at nissan messed up doing the de-phaser i read somewhere the computers(fuel) need to be reset....any ideas anyone :banghead

cheers in advance baza

Bars? Is it loosing oil in addition to drivability problems? Not good. If there are no obvious leaks, then the compression checks must be performed. I guess you are familiar with the Sales of Goods and Services Act...

AlexB. there is no oil leak once its hot its ok,but i not 100% confident that nissan new what they were doing and now its out of warranty.... (bars on the rev counter) could it be a coil failing or dirty sensor :?:

Ah, you mean the bars on the tachometer -- it is not too bad then. Three bars mean 750rpm. The cold engine is supposed to idle faster, slowing down to 700rpm when hot and going faster again when overheated. Have you checked the temperature sensor?

As Renault and Nissan are twin companies nowadays I think it should be ok for them to replace the pulley.

First thing to check on any Renault petrol engine indeed are the coils....they frequently are on their way out and afaik the symtoms in that case are similar to yours....
