Free Renault Diagnostic Software Clip-like: PyClip (PyRen), ECU Tweak (DDT4All), AndOBD

I've been using these for a while, decided to share...
Clip diagnostic computer is expensive, but this days one can get similar functionality with free programs for Android (or other computers) and a cheap interface unit based on ELM327.

For Android one needs an OBD box having either Bluetooth or WiFi interface (USB is not supported). This has to be ELM327 OBD box with pic18f25k80 chip. They are plentiful on Amazon/Ebay, just hunt for the product explicitly indicating the chip code. They are usually advertised as ELM327 version v1.5, which is a misnomer, as the corresponding chip version is v1.4; ELM company never released v1.5... Be careful with higher versions, as they mostly represent Chinese counterfeit devices not supporting the necessary functions; v2.1, in particular, is almost always counterfeit. In order to check whether the purchased box is good, one can open it up and locate the chip marked as above and a 4MHz crystal oscillator next to it. There is an app "ELM327 Identifier", which determines the version of the box. You need v1.3b of v1.4, but reporting in the counterfeit devices may be fake.

Diagnostic software for Renault, the simplest to use first.

AndrOBD, available from fDroid repository, does not require Google, contains no trackers. I shows the most basic live engine data and diagnostic codes, allows to reset some codes. The program is not Renault specific, similar to Torque or ScanMaster.

It detects and lists all computers in a Renault car, allows all sorts of operations with fault codes, accesses the configuration information, starts tests, includes ABS, airbag and steering computers, etc. Good stuff!

Ecu Tweaker.
This program is an Android port of DDT4ALL. It allows reading and modification of parameters of all ECUs, including the firing lines of airbags, settings of ABS, etc., in addition to dealing with fault codes and executing tests. One needs the program itself and the ECU database ecu.zip file to be put anywhere - it will be found, just make sure it is the only one in the system.
