Re: How do i get to the fan ?

To get to the fan you must remove the glovebox which is described somewhere in the ICE secton, I believe. Then you have to unclip the semi-rigid air duct to reveal the blower fan which you have to twist slightly to pull out after releasing a catch at the top. It's a round assembly about the diameter...

Re: newbie in need of advice and facts

The panoramic roof is not particularly rare. A lot of Dynamiques and Prestige models have them; they may well have been standard on these. It is likely your car will have 'total closure' so that the windows and roof will all close automatically if you deadlock the car (two quick presses on the keyca...

Re: Oil & STOP light When driving ????

I'd be tempted not to go to Kwik-Fit with a car so seemingly sensitive to oil and filter types as the Megane. I think that places like these are likely to use generic filters and bulk oil almost by definition but even if they don't they certainly aren't going to use the best available. I hope I am n...

Re: swapping speakers?

Most people go for the Pioneer TS-Q131C component set for the front because they are made to fit the Renault without any modification. Removing the front door grilles and tweeters couldn't be easier. The rear doors are a bit trickier and hardly necessary once you've upgraded the fronts. Nevertheless...

Re: rear view mirror.

It appears there was some sliding involved in you removing it. The Haynes manual describes removal thus, "The interior mirror is very firmly attached . . . . . removed by sliding it towards the windscreen . . . . . . considerable effort may be required . . . . . . . . . . care should be taken n...

Re: wipers and water

It's unreal how many issues these cars have with water. Anyone would think they were built in Saudi Arabia! Renault missed a trick in their ads when likening the Megane to women with, shall we say, ample 'junk in their trunk'. They could also have mentioned it'll end up with more silicone than Pamel...

Re: sun roof problem and fuse board

On the Megane the battery has to come out to access the remaining fuse box which is a pain but, that said, it seems a little inconsistent to have the sunroof fuse in the passenger compartment fuse box on one model then to put it behind the battery on another. The sunroof fuse on the Megane is the bo...

Re: engine management system fuse...

Don't know about symbol but presumably it's the F3 (30A) fuse on the battery terminal (the left one if viewed with cable at the bottom).

Re: airbag light and service light

Is there any early Megane owner who's never had this? It's often accompanied by the "Steering Not Locked" warning. It's definitely related to the under-seat wiring but I wish I knew exactly where so I could fix it once and for all. It's not only annoying but does the presence of the airbag...

Re: sun roof problem and fuse board

When you say you've "checked all the fuses" - have you checked in all the fuse box locations? The Megane has 3, 1 beside the glovebox (where there is a sunroof fuse) and 2 more under the bonnet near the battery.

Re: wipers and water

Good spot. I'm gonna suggest you get yourself a bottle of RainX as the wiper motor is just as likely to go the other way and stop altogether as fix itself. On my goddaughter's car, she reported the wipers "acting funny" a few days before they packed up. I smeared RainX over the screen in t...

Re: serious problem

I wasn't clear if you found the cover in place or missing. As you've discovered, the hole needs to be properly covered to prevent BIG problems if it's not too late. It's a common problem and you'll probably find on here some members who have managed to dry electronic components out but I think there...

Re: serious problem

Is the cover for the headlight bulb access hole present in the front wheel arches? If missing, road water gets through to an electronic module causing all kinds of chaotic responses.

Re: wipers and water

You might find that water has collected in the bulkhead well below the windscreen where the wiper motor is situated. The drain holes get blocked with leaves and dirt quite readily so you'll have to find the drain holes and poke them through. Presumably the water then overflows, ending up in the car....

Would sticking some kind of weight to the underside of the lid work?
