fuel / oil leak?
Hi, discovered something when checking over for mot. It's the 1.5 dci. There is oilly sludge on the air duct at the point where it bends down to go behind the engine. There is a small rubber hose joining on at this point with a quick release connection, so thinking it's leaking from this? Its strang...

Mines the same as yours, but I've always thought it should read in the middle like other cars I've had or driven.

Re: puncture, breakdown...
First thing I learned with my first car was to change a wheel. And not to have a car without a proper spare. It's amazing how many people will wait hours for a recovery vehicle to change a wheel. It's a two minute job!

Re: clunking from the rear
Hi again, I've had a look underneath, nothing obvious I can see to be loose to make a noise. Its getting worst and making noise now corning left and right. Its something happening when the car is cornering or leaning as I don't think it does it over speed bumps (when driving straight). I've taken ev...

Headlights again
Well had another headlight go on me yesterday, so today I tried changing the bulb from the top like I've done before, but just couldn't do it this time. So I tried the bumper off method. The bumper's held on with only two screws each side under the wheel arch. Under the bonnet take the plastic cover...

clunking from the rear
What's likely to be the cause of a clunking sound from the rear? Its a sort of clunky echoey hollow sound not all time, when driving over speed bumps, and when cornering right (not tight, but when say turning right at a large roundabout). I thought either bushes or maybe exhaust knocking on somethin...

Re: No more tax disc
I agree to paying no tax outright and adding it onto fuel, don't think it would work with insurance though. I've often wondered why tax isn't done by mileage as it seems only fair. For example a rep in a car with zero tax will still be polluting more per year than a big petrol engine 4x4 driver that...

No more tax disc
Just paid for car tax and informed won't be getting a disc in post. I know the systems changed but why? I seemed to work ok?
Won't it be even easier now for people to drive without tax? And what about the factories that make (as well as other things) disc holders. Did no one think of them

Re: Behind radio?
Hmm... in that case I might try moving the whole facia forward a touch... that should do it
I have already shorted the gear stick a couple of inches because the screen folds down and touched it.
Aparently standard din sizes don't include depth...

Behind radio?
Not sure where to put this topic post so trying here first... I have changed my radio for a double din size one. All is good except I would like to sink it further down as it is not flush with the facia. The trouble is I have measured the depth of the new unit and is hitting the plastic behind the u...

Re: Rear wash facility
My washers have always deluded me as well. Activating the fronts does work, activating the rear will wash the front and the rear at same time.

Re: Head Gasket/Coolant problem
Its an age old question of spending money on something not worth much. Same with mine, not worth much but I've decided to keep for long as possible even if I may have to spend on it. My reason is I could change the car for something a bit newer yes, but in time it could end up with ten times the pro...

Re: Boring fuel economy question
60 mpg for my 1.5 dci, and with fuel prices slowly dropping it feels even better
Keep an eye on any really short journeys though, they will lower your average dramatically, and are also bad for engine if it doesn't reach normal temperature.
