Re: Help - Cruise control not working
Hi, go with what your reader tells you now, the old codes from the garage could have been old glitches stored say, if the voltage was ever low or battery disconnected. Your reader is directing you to the clock spring and a rear seat belt or airbag. The clock spring has to be eliminated, then see wha...

Hi, as these issues have occurred since you touched the interior fuse box, you need to go back there. The electrics on a car that old are very prone to poor contacts, even burnt out wires. Clean all contacts for fuses/relays (one at a time) and also all connectors on the wiring, at the fuse box and ...

Re: An extra spring under tappet cover
Hi, either someones made a mistake or it must be the robots, but it's a strange one. Back in the day when l worked on cars, we had a nearly new just out of 12 month warranty Viva come in with ' pulling to one side'. Turned out it had a disc on one side and a drum brake on the other, so these things ...

Hi,
sometimes you can get a sharp action clutch, l guess that's why they invented the dual mass flywheel to absorb the bite.
It could be engine mounts or stabilizer bar faulty or someone may have fitted the old style solid flywheel.
Bob.

Hi,
according to the almost useful Haynes manual, there are 2 sensors.
One in the exhaust manifold and one downstream of the cat.
Good luck

Hi,
sounds like it might pay you to buy a complete head, but good luck with that lot.

Re: wiring diagram
Hi,
sounds like the pressure switch.
If you're going to hot wire the clutch, use similar wire to what's going to it now and use a fuse.
Bob
ps search on line about by passing 3 wire switch, someone's probably done it.

Re: wiring diagram
That wiring diagram is from the 'almost useful Haynes'
It doesn't mention the pressure switch.
The clutch will work off 12v, the pressure switch will probably be 12v (you could test even with a bulb) but l know so long as it's only 2 wires, you can join them together to bypass the switch.

Re: Cambelt broke again?
Hi, it is just possible to get away with it depending on where the cam was when it broke. If the valves were all half way you might be very lucky, you need the head off to see, not a 5 min or simple job. You also need to consider why a new belt broke, was the tensioner new also. Good luck Bob.

Hi,
the pressure switch having power to it doesn't mean it's working.
If it's only 2 wires, just connect them together see if it works, if not, test the compressor direct to the battery see if it activates.

Hi,
if you just mean fresh air, check that it's not on recycling instead of outside air.
If you mean the a/c not working, that's a whole new ball game.

Re: Fan not working set to 4
There's a video by Theodore on you tube for this specific problem.
Look up Megane heater fan not working on 4
If you watch it you might see where he finds the part you're after somewhere under the driver side dash.
Should just be a contact clean up if the other speeds are working.
Good luck
Bob..

Re: Stiffy/Sticky Gear Shift
Hi, sounds like the gear shift mechanism that moves the cables to the gearbox, that's what mine was. I fitted one off ebay around £40 but not a 5 min job and not for a novice. It has to be taken out from underneath, exhaust and heat shields removed plus battery and tray etc from above. If you're una...

Hi, the inner tie rods are not the track rod ends. It's the part between the track rod end and the steering rack. I understand that it is only an advisory and not a fail, why, I don't understand given the strict rules for MOT. I would advise you to get them done as it will affect the steering and ty...
