Warning message "Steering Check"

Hi all, I replaced my steering rack about 6 months ago and ever since I get a message on the readout on the dash "Steering Check" I have had a wheel alignment and the garage didn't know anything about it or how to remove it. I don't know if it somehow connected but I also have an airbag li...

Re: Creaking Door Hinge

Has anyone tried swapping the back door hinges (that don't make a horrible noise) with the front ones?
Do they even fit?

I hate electrical problems

I have had my car now for about 4 years. In all that time the air conditioner and rear window demist haven't worked. I haven't tried fixing them because I live in Norway (mostly) and we only have one hot day a year. However, the other day I realised that both the air conditioner and demist lights wo...

Re: Water collecting behing the dash

All good, thanks so much for the tip :-) I don't think they had ever been cleaned out before. Filled right to the top with mud! The drain on the driver side (left hand drive) was a pain to access as it's right under the windscreen wiper motor :( I was pleasantly surprised that the area was not ruste...

Water collecting behing the dash

Hi all, My car seems to collect water somewhere behind the dash when it rains. When I first start to drive I can hear water sloshing around and if it has rained heavily I can sometimes hear the heater fan hitting the water. After driving around for a while the water seems to disappear. The other day...

Re: Megane II Estate rear light problem

I promised to post an update when I had fixed my lights. The problem I had was when the left indicator was on and the brake light came on, the indicator stopped working. I also found out that the same happened if the reversing lights came on. When I took the electrical connection apart I could see w...

Re: Megane II Estate rear light problem

Thinking a bit more about it, I'm not convinced it's an earth problem. More like a short somewhere :(
I don't have an electrical tester with me so it's sort of hit and miss. I'll let you know if I find the problem.

Megane II Estate rear light problem

I think I have a bad earth somewhere on my left hand rear lights. When I have my brakes (and Brake lights) on the indicator light stops flashing. I have opened up and taken the bulb holder out. The grey wire which goes to number 3 on the wiring clip the contact has been very hot and is a bit burnt. ...

Clunking sound when opening both front doors

Hi again, Both front doors of my car make a horrible clunking sound when opening or closing. The noise is coming from a small box on top of the lower hinge. This box looks like it has a lid that should come off but I can't get it off. I was hoping to be able to get into the box to grease the bits wh...

Re: Megane II timing belt size

Thanks guys, I contacted some mechanics here in Norway and they told me that it would be really tight, they were right! It took me hours to figure out how to get it on and I finally got it on by removing the bottom sprocket and putting the belt on it and then levering the sprocket back on. I can't u...

Megane II timing belt size

I am in the middle of changing my timing belt and I can't get the new belt to fit. It has the same number of teeth as the old belt but seems to be a bit shorter. I don't have a proper belt measuring tool so I can't be exactly sure. When the new belt is across the can sprockets, the belt doesn't seem...

200000 km service for Megane II

Sorry if this has been posted before but I am trying to find out what needs to be done at the 200000 kms service.
I presume it is a big service and will need oils and filters changed.
Can anyone tell me everything that should be done or point me to a link that will help?
Cheers,
Mark
