checked your rear brakes too? maybe you have 'burnt the pads' ie using them too hard when new i have done this before.

if the choke is still open when the car is warm and doesn't need it, it will 'suffocate' the engine and probably stall. not sure though sounds weird let us know how they fix it and what it was.

i would hope the idle just needs adjusting however it may be the automatic choke failing just get em to fix it

if u are driving a diesel car i find it is best to stay in a high gear whilst accelerating ie 3rd/4th as you will be above the turbo range thus using less diesel than when in 5th at low revs this using less diesel.
