Hi Wheelchair, welcome to the club
What do you mean when you say drive with your hands? Is it the fact you operate the brake and accelerator with your hands too?

Welcome along!
At the risk of sounding appalling, I would love to try and drive a hand controlled car. Would be a completely different experience then!

Hi Toosh, I only use my hands to drive. The hand controls are bolted to the underneath of the steering column and come out to the right underneath the wiper controls. Ipull the leaver to accelerate and push the leaver to brake. The car can be drove normally aswell.

Hi Eddie. show some pics soon. I bought the car myself because the mobility cars were pretty sh1t with the money allowance they give you. I,ve done a few things to her to make her stand out. Ian.

Eddie-- wrote:hang on so this is the normal car that you've changed till suit your needs or one they gave you and customized (sp) ??
Hi Eddie, It,s a normal Megane with a hand control fitted. Pull to accelerate, push to brake. The mods i,ve done are for my satisfaction. 19" RS rims, Black Diamond disc,s drilled & fluted fitted allround, Lowered suspension springs 30mm, colour coded bumpers & door trims, Angel eye headlights in black sorrounds & rear tail lights, rear roof spoiler, grey leather interior & private reg plates. next will be a 225 exhaust. Hopefully. Ian. The reason i use a hand control is because i have a spinal chord injury T5 complete which means i cant feel nothing below my chest.

Very nice looking Megane you have there Ian
Did it get some getting used to with those controls? I can imagine having a few near misses, or did you have to past some sort of driving test again?

Hi There, Yes i had to re-pass a driving test, although it was a lot easier. Getting use to the controls was,nt to bad it was the other car drivers and i had lost my confidence which i have now regained.

Your car looks gorgeous, I just left my 1.6 VVT in to get colour coded yesterday. It's black also, now I have a fair idea of what it will look like
