Stock Sound System - is it any good?

What's the stock system like? Coming from a 14 speaker 1200W Logic7 Surround sound system I have high standards, but appreicate that smaller systems can give good results too.

I'm more interested in quality rather than quantity, so how does the stock megane system sound compared to the bigger brands?

OK, I'll start flicking through ppl's upgrades. Do you know where the weak point is? Is it the HU or the speakers? i.e could I just replace the speakers, or should I look at installing an amp to power the door speakers so the HU doesnt have to work hard etc?

I like keeping cars looking stock - although do like the look of the DVD/NAV/Bluetooth Double Din units you can get:

The speakers are the weakest link, and hu not much better, as much as I wanted to keep the original hu I've now changed..

Im in the same boat wanting to upgrade the stock system (not had my megane long) think i'll start with those pioneer Q131C front speakers and tweeters as they are a perfect fit for the front with no mods needed,then i'll install some lower spec in the back,finally i'll look into changing the HU

If you search on eBay for "Megane DVD" there are a few options.

This is the cheapest one currently.

My 6 disc changer doesn’t seem to work, completely dead – so this may be a good option. Although I wonder if it’s just disconnected as the previous owner tried to put the radio code in, so got the pre-code off the side and may have dis-lodged something.

I must say, Renault clips/plugs seem to leave a lot to be desired, what with the heated seat plugs falling off the switch and the seat airbag plugs working loose I don’t know why they didn’t just twist the wires together and put a bit of tape on!
