keeping rear speakers and amp out

Postby rbrocky » Sat Nov 06, 2010 8:32 pm

hey, whats the best way of doing it?

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Line-Output-Conne ... 3a540dda1f
by buying something like that, would i just have to tap into each speaker wire
or is there a more "sophisticated" way of doing it?

thanks
brocky :)

best not to go cutting wires.....

you can get an iso adapter to go on the end of that, so it plugs straight into your radios speaker loom :)

like this :D

rbocky, Has your car got rear speakers?
Silly question, assume it has due to the title, what's your amp? I think the above is probably the most professional way to do it, I have to admit tho every car I've ever put a sub/amp in I've spliced the feed of the rear speakers wires, just seems most straght forward to me!Lol

ok so that gadget will let me keep all my current speakers, plus the amp out with another adaptor
id just have to cut the original connections for the rear speakers and crimp them into place?

basically yes. but if you crimp the iso connector on, you wont have to cut wires now, meaning you wont need to crimp the old ones back in place when you change the sytem :)

This is how I had my setup in my ST500......

Basically

The original stereo loom has two parts, one for speakers, one for power etc...

you can use a female iso socket from your speaker output on the stereo, to connect to the amp

then use a male iso socket to connect to the cars speaker input from the amp, so its kind of like inserting your amp in the existing wiring, without cutting anything :)

by doing this, you have a plug and play system you can use with any car, and its totally reversible.

i kinda get ya, but without any pics it makes it a little difficult!

so use that ebay link to plug directly into the car stereo
then attatch a female iso to the other speaker O/Ps,
then plug the cars existing loom into this?

if im right
any links to a female iso socket ideal for use

ta mate :)

could buy an iso extension lead

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Male-ISO-Female-ISO-Lead-Cable-Wiring-Harness-CT20UV01-/400163737947?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Terminals_Cabling_ET&hash=item5d2b9e115b

That way it comes with male and female, so your cutting into this ones wiring, instead of the original loom. makes sense for the sake of a few £
the side coming from the stereo will connect to amp input, the side that connects to the cars loom would connect to the amps out put :)

yep :)

also saves you running new wires to each individual speakers as your amp output will go into the original speaker loom :)

The Alpine F1 status amps, come with the plug and play wiring already, which is where I got the idea :)

ok, so tap this
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Line-Output-Conne ... 3a540dda1f
into this
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
then plug the corresponding ends into the stereo and the existing loom
job done? :)

cut this in half:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400163737947&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Connect one end to the headunit output, then connect this (V) into it.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Line-Output-Connector-Speaker-RCA-Female-PC1-601-/250518297119?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3a540dda1f

run speaker outputs from your amp as normal, but run them to behind your stereo, put the left over end of this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400163737947&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT to it, and then plug that in where the stereo was originally plugged in.

job done :D

so its:

STEREO - Speaker Output - (Female ISO - RCA Connector - RCA Lead - Amp - Speaker Lead - Male ISO )- Original Speaker Loom

the part in brackets is the work you do :) if you delete the part in the brackets, your straight back to standard.
