Hands free card...

Postby djkav » Wed May 23, 2007 10:23 pm

Hi,

Just a quick question on the hands free card.

Where I work, you need to leave your keys in your car so people can move yours to get their own car out. So I'll need to leave the hands free card in the car so people can move it.

Can you lock yourself out of the car by leaving the card in the car?

As far as I am aware you can't lock yourself out as the buttons are on the card.

BTW I hope these cars are in a secure compound!

The Hands Free set up will not let you lock the keys in the car as it knows its in the car and therefore disables the locking - pretty clever.

Try if for yourself, wind down a window, put the key on the seat then press the door button 'once' (so it doesn't auto close the windows)

Does your company insurance cover you if someone drives off in your car???

PS You could always carry your spare key if you get paranoid

The cars are in an extremely secure zone. Its protected by electric fencing topped with razor wire. CCTV cameras covering 90% of all zones. Access controlled by video phone and a ram proof double gate system :P

Sounds like you work in fort knox! (with a parking problem  )

As far as I know the only way you can lock your card in the car is to open a window, get out, double lock the car so the windows start to shut then throw the card through the window before it shuts!
At the end of the day... ..it gets dark
