das radio display interchangability

Hi I am having problems with the dash radio info display on my 2006 225. It has a built in (useless) satnav and the display has gone unreadable - still vaguely there. I want to replace it but the proper one from Ren is £170 (8200107520) and unobtainable second hand.
Has anyone experience of swapping these - for another part number maybe (all look the same) or does it repair?
