Hi All,
I have been lurking on this forum for some time because of various issues with my Megane II 1.6 Dynamique (08 plate) that I bought about 8 months ago. Have now joined because I was looking for tips on fitting rear parking sensors. Whilst trying to work out where I would connect the power cable to the reversing light wire I have inadvertently broken the white plastic wing nut that locks the bulb holder into the rear light housing. Anybody know if it is possible to just get a replacement nut or am I looking at a completely new housing?

a trip to the scrap yard , but i would think you would be able to just buy the wing nut from a Renault dealer

Sadly not. I just asked them. They can only sell me an entire light unit for £55, for the sake of a small piece of broken plastic!

Re: Replacement Rear Light Locking Wing Nut
Thanks for trying but those are the bolts that secure the entire housing to the car body. The nut I have broken just locks the bulb holder onto the rest of the housing. It is a cheap piece of white plastic with no metal on it.
It is the white thing in the middle of this picture.

I may bid for this entire holder if it doesn't go above its minimum asking price but it is still an expensive way to get hold of one tiny plastic nut.

Re: Replacement Rear Light Locking Wing Nut
How does it connect on the rear? Couldn't you possibly DIY it with a long 10mm bolt? And a nut on other end?
Re: Replacement Rear Light Locking Wing Nut
That's an idea. I'll take another look but I think the wing nut has teeth which lock into a moulded recess on the housing so I don't think it is possible to get a nut behind it. Definitely worth a look though.
Re: Replacement Rear Light Locking Wing Nut
If it is moulded on the other side you could drill a hole through to make it work, then use some instant gasket to seal it. Depends how DIY you want to go compared to spending on the new part
Re: Replacement Rear Light Locking Wing Nut
I won the ebay auction so I guess the problem will be resolved and I will have a spare bulb holder and bulbs should I ever need them. However the original nut broke while I was preparng to install rear parking sensors which I thought I had done successfully...until now.
I now have another problem and have had to start a new thread about that.
