Clutch Pedal Problem!!

Postby prestigej » Thu Sep 02, 2010 5:55 pm

Hi, I have 52 Plate 1.9DCI Renault Megane and the clutch pedal has a problem where when it is pushed down it stays down. It can be pulled back up but just srops again. The car has had a new clutch fitted and new slave cylinder but the problem still seems to be there.
Any help or advice would be much apprieciated. There is fluid in the system but it just doesn't seem to want to bleed so that there is pressure behind the pedal.

New Master Cylinder fitted and no luck with that making any difference either. Checked for leaks around it and throughout the pipework. No leaks and no air going into the system that we can find.
This one has got us stumped and costing a fortune.

It has to be one of the cylinders for that to happen.

Odd. Did the problem occur before the new clutch? Possibly the clutch release bearings are seized or stiff...

I'm assuming that with the engine running, you can depress the clutch and engage a gear, but the pedal will not return nor the gearbox engage - is this correct?

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!
