Airbag Warning Light - Steering not locked

Hi

I drive a Megane 1.6 16v Dynamique.

Last week i was on holiday and driving around a lot when in mid journey the airbag warning light came on along with the SERVICE light. When I stop the car the dash says "Steering Not Locked". Any idea what the problem is and how to fix it or do I need to get somone to look at it?

It's to do with the wiring below one or other of the front seats. Fiddle around with the wiring and the related connectors that disappear into the carpet under the seats. Ultimately the warning might return as the consensus seems to be that the connectors are poor quality. Often just moving the seat can cause or cure it.

No one seems to be able to answer whether the airbag actually would fail to deploy when this warning light is on or it's just an issue with the light itself. The steering warning is related and will extinguish at the same time.
