Knocking when steering

Postby Ulsterexile » Wed Jul 24, 2013 6:52 pm

All,

I am looking for some help with above problem. When I turn the steering wheel at low speed I keep getting a clunking noise from the front end. Now while I am not the greatest DIY mechanic i will give anything a go. To that end I have had the front end up on a trolley jack and had a good poke around, but cannot see anything thing obvious. I am open to suggestions to investigate anything further before I take it to my local garage.

Thanks.

I've got the same thing on my car. It sounds like a tapping sort of noise when turning left and the sound seems to be coming from the right hand side front wheel. It could be both sides though, i just can't tell.
:?
I;m guessing that it's my CV joint and i need to get it sorted soon-ish. Has anyone got a round-about cost for getting one fixed ?

I have the same problem, knocking at low speed when turning near full lock and a slight knocking when accelerating from low speed (can hear sound reflected from driving alongside wall's/fences)

I'm pretty sure it's the CV joints and I have ordered replacements. I'll be replacing them in a couple of weeks so ill get photo's and throw them on here for anyone to copy. parts came from here:

A bit late in posting the solution. But it was a broken spring of all things, 4 hours and some bruised knuckles sorted.

Just for the update, my CV joint cost me £72.95 to get replaced.

I know im 8 years late to this and im sure you wont replay but do you remember if this fixed the problem you were having?

I'm having the same issue on my 2012 Megane 3 and I dont want to splash the cash till I know it will fix it.

Thanks
