MOT (horn)

Postby scott9951 » Sat Feb 01, 2014 8:07 pm

hello all,

does anyone know how loud a horn should be to pass the MOT?

my car just failed on the horn not being loud enough.

i have 3 meganes & they are all the same.

ive had a read through some older threads & it seems renault horns in general are quiet.

so is my only option to buy a a none genuine horn?

If you were present during the MOT, how did the tester actually test the horn?

If he sat inside the car with the windows up and 'tested' the horn, then it would have sounded pretty low. But the horn if to warn others of your presence, and standing outside the car, the horn is pretty loud and does its job. Unless there is something wrong with the horn or its coonections, the tester probably made a subjective fail just to be a jobsworth.
