not really a problem but just got my other half a '07 1.6 megane.

It came with only one card so got another one from renault man, £50 later and it's programmed and working.

The original card gaves the "press brake to start" message but the car will start even if you don't press the brake.

The new card gives the same message but won't start unless you do press the brake.

Any ideas?

and, along similar lines, should it be possible to take the card out and lock the card with the engine still running?

Also, the thing is fitted with a radio with combined cd player, can anyone tell me if that will play mp3 files?

What are the cd changer options? Ebay has six disc ones that fit in the dash under the existing radio and also the traditional cd changer that goes in the boot/under the seat. Will either work? Anything to watch out for?

Car is 57 reg 1.6 petrol 5 door saloon

I'd say the card is the issue then.

You need to press the brake for it to start.
