Blower
Moderators: q292u, Ray, AndyAdmin, Stranger
Funnily enough I have just returned from a Renault dealer and I asked about this problem (my Brothers Scenic had the same problem - which now seems to have cured itself).
It is a problem with the heater resistor and needs replacement - Something covered under Renault warranty I believe.
Hope this helps.

Re: Blower
Bump!
My blower now only works on 1, 2, 3 settings - it stops on 4.
Any ideas where I start to repair this?

Re: Blower
strange as problems normally occur the other way around.
on setting 1,2 and 3 it goes through the resistor (behind panel under glove box)
on setting 4 is goes direct to blower.
the usual problem is it works on 4 but not the others and this would be a resistor issue.
you might need to check the wiring with a multimeter etc.

Re: Blower
Hi, iv just had the exact same problem..... firstly the blower was intermitant on pos.4 fine on 1.2.3.
Last week it went completly on 4. So after reading up a little I removed the pannel in the passenger footwell that lets you access the center console, and (as im a cowboy) i hit the connector block a few times which is located at the back and appears to have a thick red and yellow wire going into a block with several other wires on the other side. best do this with the ignition off.... Now once i started it up the blower was working fine, however..... a plasticy burning smell was present after a while on pos.4
SO... some more reading up told me this is ANOTHER common fault, where that the resistor connector block (i think) has a bad connection and causes it to become hot = burning smell / stops working. my next job is to read up a little more and find how to solve this properly. Im led to believe changing the connector block or bypassing it all together is the way forward, but as im no auto-electrician im going to be steady in my approach....
If anyone has any more info please let us know.......

Re: Blower
Morning guys, sorry I know this is an old post, but having just got my Megane 3 days ago I found that settings 1,2 and 4 do not work on my blower, only setting 3 - any ideas?
Re: Blower
£165 inc VAT/fitting (give-or-take) for a new heater motor resistor and wiring loom (mine had burnt out)- it's what mine needed.

bloody hell, im glad i got mine sorted before the wires melted, i could see smoke and smell burning a few times, but luckily i caught it before it was too late, and all it cost was the price of some cable, a few strip connectors and some electrical tape
