Suspension Knock

Postby Gumby6371 » Mon Oct 09, 2017 10:59 am

Hi all,
I'm having a bit of a head scratcher tracking down a knocking from the drivers side suspension.

It started a couple of weeks back when the spring snapped on me, nice and near the top so no dramas getting home safely.
Swapped the spring but then it developed a knocking noise.
Having driven 406's for years which eat drop links I changed that, old one was a bit lose but I've seen much worse and still had a knock.
Had a good prod around and found the track rod end was really loose, swapped that and had it tracked but still knocked.
Then bit the bullet and pulled the strut out again and swapped the top mount which was a little notchy...guess what it still knocks, even seems worse now than before!

Any advice before I kick the cr*p out of it?

I will admit torque settings have been eyeballed and a good hand tight has been applied to everything.

Would the top mount move enough to knock if they weren't torqued up enough?

thanks in advance

Gareth
