Driveshaft replacement

Replacing driveshaft on a 2014 Megane on the passenger side. The replacement driveshaft has no spring clip or place for a spring clip on the inner cv joint side. The one we removed had a spring clip. Has anyone come across this before? Do you need the spring clip?
