Reliability of electrics

Postby alanf » Sun Feb 16, 2020 12:14 pm

Iv'e got a 05 1.5 dci nearing end of life, good all round car for taking dogs out going to tip etc very economical but let down badly by dodgy electrics, am thinking of a Mk 111 have they improved the reliability of the electrics or is it still a lottery to find out which window will work in the morning!

I have a Mk3 1.6 DCi 2014. It's behaving better than my old 2006 Mk2 was. Had the odd few problems when it disabled cruise control and "Check injection" message came up but I knew that the glow plugs were due for a change as starting was getting worse in the mornings (original at 75k Miles) and since I have changed them it's doing ok with no problems whatsoever. My other half's 2009 Mk3 1.6 petrol had a coil change around 60k but no other probs.
