Thinking of Getting a CC like the title says.

but i have a load of questions. i been looking around here for some time now and still im a little confused.

i will be looking for a 55 or 06 plate with about 50k on the clock 1.9 130bhp dci

1) What things should i look out for (Engine Wise)?

2) the Roof - what the likely hood of it jamming and if it goes wrong how much to fix roughtly (Worst Case)?

3) can Renault do extend warrenty on Roof Only?

4) General thoughts on the car really. i use to have a Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI so im not expecting it to be as fast as that but i would expect it to be more comfy and less stiff :)

Any help in what to look for would be ideal

thanks

Lee

Hi,

I've had mine over a month now and not come across any real issues that others seem to have found.
My roof doesn't leak and works just fine at the mo. Remember that the roof system was designed and built by Karmann so if anyone knows how to build such folding roofs, they should.

The car is surprisingly stiff with the roof up. As good as my Megane hatch I had before and if i'm honest its road manners are alot better too! Which kind of goes against the grain with convertibles.
With it down it does have slight body scuttle but nothing that drives you mad.
I've test driven a couple of VW Eos's and they don't feel any different to the Megane to drive, so save your cash if you feel at all tempted.

Go for Dynamique if you can. Privilege if you can find a good un. Mines the Privilege with full leather and it don't alf make it feel that bit more special. Also if the birds drop their wares from above when the roof is down. It makes it easier to clean :D

I drive a 57 Reg meggy cc. I have owned it for about a year and a half now. I am always happy to " recruit " new people to the family :D .

1) I think they are all good engines, what you should watch out for is the normal check for service history, does it have a lot of bumps, leaks, etc.... One thing to ask is if the seals has been replaced, but doesnt mean it will leak just might mean it has leaked but has been fixed or attempted. Only way you will know for sure is if you wash it.

2) If worst comes to worst there is a way to overide the mechanism and close the roof manually. In terms of repair I have no idea. All I would say is stay away from main dealers as their hourly rates are horible try specialists instead. Same for services. For example I am about to do my second service and the main dealer quoted £450 while the specialist (who used to work for renault but went solo) charged £195 for the same job. No part other than the engine, gear box and the glass bit in the roof should cost more than £350 ( I think ). Should the roof get damaged you can claim of insurance as it will take alot of hours of labour to replace.

3) There are other companies that do after warenty - warenty I have a friend who does it if you want a quote let me know and I will get you more details.

4) In my opinion the megane cc is under rated. There arent too many on the roads so does turn heads eventhough it has been around since 2003. I opted for the 1.5dci engine as it costs me 43p a mile to run it which is reasonable. The car is brilliant for cruising and I do prefer diesels to the petrols but thats just me.

One more thing, if you can get the wind deflector with it then you can enjoy topless driving in any temperature. The car does shudder going over big pot holes but then again so do other convertibles.

Hope this helped.
