Reg Vardy bought out

Postby Ray » Mon Dec 05, 2005 11:26 pm

Some of you may be interested as they may be your local dealer.

After over a weeks discussions, Pendragon has bought the total sum of all Reg Vardy's shares for a number somewhere around £450m.

So expect your local Reg Vardy to be re-branded Evans Halshaw or Stratstone in the very near future.

Stratstone  they've started popping up here after taking over Volvo delerships and I've seen their name on the spare wheel carrier covers of Landies.

From personal experience of Reg Vardy and comments from others on here I don't think that Reg Vardy will be missed in the slightest!

I might be able to use my local dealer again instead of having to drive to Kirkcaldy every time I have a problem.

I'm delighted.

This deal has not yet gone through as it has been referred. The acquisition could be seen to allow Pendragon a monoploy position in the UK retail car market!

Hope it's allowed to proceed though!!!

I don't think they'll have a monopoly for long the way they're treating customers.
