Twingo RS inlet-manifold + Throttle on 1.6 16V

Postby Oliver » Tue May 30, 2017 10:03 am

The plan was to get rid of this:

and then install the inlet-manifold and the throttle body of the Twingo RS (ClioIII GT).

Image

So step by step....first I married the intake-hose of the ClioIII GT (left) and a MeganeII 2.0 (right). I used the one of the Megane 2.0 as it is made of Rubber and not plastic, like the 1.6 has.

Then You need the gasket between uper and lower manifold. It´s a metal gasket for the aluminium manifold and not a rubber gasket like the standard plastic manifold of the 1.6l has. Additionally I installed also the orange intake temperature sensor, as it measures lower temperatures....

Image

The two vacuum pipes of the breake booster and the charcoal filter have to be modified, too. The breake booster pipe has a different connector, the other one is too long.

Mounting the maniflod is not a big deal. Pay attention when removing inlet-pressure sensor and the temperature sensor out of the old manifold not to break them (in case you wnt to re-use them). Best is when you remove them when the engine is still hot. Wiring harness fits also, some cable ties help...

And the result? Better performance above 4500rpm until the limiter, I don´t know if it has something to do with the exhaust-manifold viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4237&start=15#p138179 I have installed and a better look...

Some of you might have noticed, that I have installed a BMW throttle. This is to the fact, that the BMW throttle Nr. 13541439224 is fully compatible to the Renault Sport throttle (8200110994) that is normally used. There is only a slightly difference of the flange geometry where the intake hose is mounted. But you get normally cheaper than the Renault Sport part...

Nice :D
I want this in my Megane II PHII but with custom air intake and cold air from front bumper :D
But i have question. How about hole diameter in lower part of air intake from MII 1.6 and new mainfold from Twingo?

Hello. I am the owner of a megane 2 Ф 1 1.4. 2005. In this machine there is an engine 1.6 from clio. With the help of firmware and other modifications received 136 hp
There is an inlet receiver from clio rs 172.
Normal throttle from 1.4

Bought a throttle 8200110994 twingo rs /
But there are some questions.
1. on the megane 2 throttle 2 1.4 there is an outlet under the absorber 8200248821,
In the throttle valve twingo rs this hole is not.

2. where there is a hose with 8200248821 in the inlet receiver twingo gt

Thank you

In 1.6 and 1.4 you have brake booster hose in manifold and hose to 8200248821 part in throttle.
In Twingo 1.6 RS, Clio III GT 1.6 you have booth vacuum pipes in manifold.
If you want to use throttle from 2.0 (8200110994) you need buy aluminium manifold from Clio III GT 1.6 or Twingo 1.6 RS.

You misunderstood me, I have an inlet manifold renault sport from clio 172 with a drain valve from megane 2 1.4.
On the motor 1.6 = 136 hp (this is not a motor with twingo rs - this is a modernized motor from clio 2 1.6)
At the moment I want to put the throttle from twingo rs.
How did you solve the sensor problem 8200248821 ?????? Where he connects ?????

Can you take picture of your manifold?
If you have only one connector for vacuum in your manifold you need throttle with another one.
If you have two connectors in manifold (like twingo RS) you need throttle without connector.

In the lower part, next to the throttle, there are two branch pipes and in the upper part next to the throttle, at an angle, another hose comes out

You can tell what outputs are connected to. You can specify the arrows in the photo.
Thank you.

1: Brake booster
2: Crank case ventilation (goes to intake hose)
3: fuel tank ventilation (goes to the switching valve 8200248821)

What I do not understand ist, how you will manage to mount an intake-manifold of a ClioII RS on a 1.6 16v engine? I think the vacuum hoses are your smallest problem...

The biggest problem is, the engine of the ClioII RS is an engine belonging to the F-family (F4R), while the 1.6 16v engine belongs to the K-family (K4M). One difference between these two is the cylinder spacing. It´s 89mm for the F and only 85mm for the K. So this means the lower intake manifold section of the Clio RS will not fit to the 1.6 cylinder head and also the upper intake manifold section will not fit to the 1.6 lower manifold section, due to the fact that the channels have the same different spacing.

I also own a Clio with the 1.6 16V engine and I put the plastic manifold (upper section) of a normal 2.0 16V engine (like EspaceIII 2.0 16v, or LagunaI 2.0 16v) on it. As it is made of polyamide (PA66) it was possible to modify, but still a lot of work.
You can get a small impression here: -> https://galerie.halbmeterpruegelanlage.de/index.php

thanks for the help.

You modified ecu megane 2 after installing the intake manifold from twingo rs ???? All works in a normal mode?

No modifications to the ECU. In addition to the Twingo RS intake manifold I installed also the orange intake temperature sensor 8200415410 https://translate.google.de/translate?s ... t=&act=url that simulates a slightly lower intake temperature which leads to a slightly higher injected fuel mass. But I think the main tuning is done by the lambda adaptation, thats makes a good job so far.

Yes. Installing the clio 2 rs inlet collector requires a lot of work. But it is installed through the spacer))))
In the standard engine 1.6 of the clio 2 has 106 or 110 hp, but I have with modifications of 136-139 hp
On the engine is the intake renault sport, installed camshafts 10.5- f260
, The main block of cylinders has been modified.
Zero resistance filter honda s2000
. The light pulley is installed, it is necessary to light the flywheel of the gearbox.
Injectors laguna 2.0
